Resumo

The objective of this study was to verify the relationship of some semiological aspects of stained and nor-stained Poodle dogs. A complementary questionnaire was applied to the owners asking about some characteristics of the animals. A clinical ophthalmologic exam was performed to verify the tear reflex production, the tear drainage and the tear pH of both dogs eyes. According to the results, it wasn´t detect relationship of tear staining with tear pH, food intake, neither with tear production. However, the most important aspect was the unsuccessful drainage by the nasolacrimal duct apparatus in stained dogs.
