The professional experience with the use of a drug Metformin shown to be very effective in lowering plasma glucose. The practice of cutting through the tablet Metformin has been a widely used technique and is justified for obtaining the prescribed dose, because often not be found commercially and is sometimes also related to cost reduction. In most cases this is done regardless of circulation groove present in the tablet and the manufacturer’s recommendations. The aim of this study was to analyze the content of active ingredient available in half tablet being looked after partition, made through the cutter pills. The values of uniformity half dose of Metformin were irregular, not following the values that theoretically should be included, in other words 425mg or 100% active ingredient and are therefore considered bad. Compared with the three laboratories, A presented the best results, with an average percentage of active principle of 98.72%. Already presented the worst result was the lab C, mean percentage of active principle of 73.33%, below the lab B, mean percentage of active principle of 121.40%. Best results obtained by A and B are due to the groove divider these tablets, the tablets had no laboratory C. The results obtained in this work show that despite the laboratory, the practice of cutting the pill should not be performed due to the high level differences in the half dosage. This compromises the effectiveness of therapy and safe treatment, and numerous times this practice is recommended by medical practitioners and professionals health.</p>}, number={2}, journal={Scientific Electronic Archives}, author={Oliveira, C.
