Presents tropism for the central nervous system, causing the individual to cryptococcal meningitis. Found in environmental sources, especially where there is contamination by pigeon droppings and also substrates as hollow trees, wasps nests, droppings of bats, among others. Fungal infections are established when in a particular host is immunocompromised or when the commensally flora is disturbed by regular administration of broad spectrum antibiotics for a period of time high. Cryptococcosis occurs as the first opportunistic approximately 4.4% of AIDS cases in Brazil. Thus, the aim of this review to show the importance of cryptococcosis problem that requires more attention, as well as conducting research and prophylaxis of the population in general.</em></p>}, journal={Scientific Electronic Archives}, author={Lima, A. and Lima, L.
