Eletroquimioterapia como tratamento adjuvante para sarcoma de aplicação felino - relato de caso

Resumo

O sarcoma de aplicação felino, antigamente denominado de sarcoma vacinal, consiste em tumor cutâneo de origem mesenquimal que se desenvolve no local de aplicação de vacinas e outras medicações. Acomete animais de meia idade e não há predileção por sexo ou raça aparente. O tempo de evolução da doença pode variar de meses a anos após a aplicação do fármaco. As causas não estão bem definidas, mas acredita-se que a inflamação, partículas adjuvantes das vacinas, ausência da regulação do gene p53 e sistema imune estejam envolvidas. Dessa forma, qualquer nódulo em região de aplicação precisa ser apontado como suspeito. O diagnóstico definitivo se dá por meio biópsia do tumor, sendo o fibrossarcoma o tipo histológico mais comum. Logo, devido ao seu comportamento agressivo o tratamento atualmente mais indicado é a excisão cirúrgica radical. Contudo, frequentemente apenas a cirurgia isolada não alcança êxito. Portanto, o objetivo desse trabalho foi relatar um caso de sarcoma de aplicação felino, cujo tratamento envolveu a técnica de eletroquimioterapia como adjuvante.
