Bignoniaceae, Jacaranda Genus, Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei

Abstract

The objective of the work was to verify the antifungal activity on Candida from the hydroethanolic floral extract of Jacaranda ulei. Flowers of J. ulei were collected in december 2020 in Cerrado in a restricted sense. The extract was produced by maceration in a 70% hydroethanolic solution. The antifungal assay was performed using the disc diffusion method in different concentrations 500-15.62 mg mL-1 on Candida albicans, C. tropicalis, C. guilliermondii and C. krusei. The floral extract showed high potential as an antifungal agent on Candida tropicalis between 25.6-11.1 mm, C. guilliermondii between 32.6-10.7 mm and C. krusei between 31.3-14.3 mm. Candida albicans has been shown to be resistant at concentrations below 500 mg mL-1 with an antibiosis halo of 10.4 mm. Further studies should be carried out verifying the synergism of the Jacaranda ulei floral extract with the reference antifungal and the analysis of the chemical profile of the extract.
