Abstract
The objective of the study was to verify the antifungal action on Candida from different concentrations of 70% hydroethanolic floral extract of Fridericia platyphylla. The flowers were collected in the Cerrado in a restricted sense, and the extract produced by maceration. Organoleptic analyzes were performed for color, aroma and homogeneity of the solution, pH and relative density. The antifungal test was carried out in different concentrations of floral extract using the disk diffusion method on Candida, C. albicans, C. guilliermondii, C. krusei and C. tropicalis. The extract showed a brownish, aromatic, clear and homogeneous wine color, pH of 5.25 and relative density equal to 0.9699 g mL-1 20 °C. The antifungal activity showed fungistatic potential among the tested Candida strains, with results of 16.9-8.7 mm for C. tropicalis, between 19.7-4.6 mm for C. guilliermondii, between 26.1-9,1 mm for C. albicans and 11.8-8.7 mm for C. krusei between the concentrations of floral extract 500-15.62 mg mL-1. The floral hydroethanolic extract of Fridericia platyphylla demonstrated good results of fungal inhibition in vitro. Further work should be carried out to test the synergism between antifungal drugs and floral extract.
