Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought numerous challenges to society, affecting all aspects of our lives, including education. With the restrictions imposed to contain the spread of the virus, many schools and educational institutions had to adopt remote teaching as a way to continue offering education to students. Although remote teaching has allowed the continuity of education in times of crisis, it is necessary to consider that this transition has had significant impacts on the quality of teaching. We can cite as examples, the lack of adequate access to the internet and technological devices that were an obstacle for many students, especially those from low-income communities, resulting in educational inequalities. In this sense, the scope of this study was to reflect on COVID-19 and the impacts of remote teaching on the quality of teaching. In carrying out the research, we opted for a bibliographic review. Aiming at a better theoretical-methodological structure, this research was based on the ideas of authors such as Mata; Marconi and Lakatos; IBGE; Federal Senate and others. It is important to emphasize that remote teaching cannot be seen as an ideal substitute for face-to-face teaching. Although it was an emergency solution during the pandemic, face-to-face teaching offers unique benefits such as direct interaction, hands-on activities and complete immersion in the educational environment.
