Abstract

Abstract. Introduction: In natura foods were replaced by processed and ultra-processed foods, and a factor that contributes to adherence to this diet in the first years of children's lives was that women, who were previously responsible for food in their homes, were inserted into the market of work. Objective: This study aims to analyze the prevalence of consumption of ultra-processed foods among children aged 6 to 24 months attended at the CAIS in Itumbiara. Methodology: The research will carry out an exploratory cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. The study will be carried out at CAIS - Center for Integrated Health Care through the application of a questionnaire. Results Found: Regarding the food provided to children, all caregivers reported giving them water and more than half of these children consume juice (54.40%), yogurt (51.50%), cookies (64.70%) and biscuit (69.10%). Approximately one third of these children also consume tea (35.60%), coffee (33.80%), milk drink (32.40%), snacks (35.30%) and sweets in general (36.80%). The least consumed foods were soft drinks (25.00%), instant noodles (20.60%), industrialized baby food (22.10%) and gelatin (27.90%). Conclusion: The consumption of ultra-processed foods is present early in the diet of children under 24 months of age
