Insertion of auriculotherapy in the work process of nurses in primary care: strengths and weaknesses

This study aims to describe the application of auriculotherapy by nurses in primary care health units in a municipality in the western region of Paraná. This is exploratory-descriptive research, with a qualitative approach interpreted from content analysis. Data collection was conducted from March to September of 2021. Results: The content analysis revealed five categories: Preparatory process: Theory and practice for the application of auriculotherapy; Performing of auriculotherapy in practice; Treatment and knowledge of the technique before the course; Disclosure of the application of auriculotherapy and symptoms treated; and Difficulties for the application. Conclusion: There is the versatility of treatment possibilities with auriculotherapy for different diseases and patients' complaints, however, nurses find difficulties in applying auriculotherapy due to the lack of acquisition of necessary materials for the application of auriculotherapy in the Unified Health System.
