The crop of forage sorghum has shown an enormous growth in recent years, due to the great productive and forage potential. Parallel to its growth, there is also an increase in the demand for herbicides that make its production viable. In this sense, the objective was to evaluate the efficiency of the use of herbicides in the control of weeds and their influence on the growth and production characteristics of forage sorghum. The experiment was carried out in a randomized block design, with 4 replications and 9 treatments [Witness; weeding; 2,4-D (100%); 2,4-D (150%); Pendimethalin (100%); Pendimethalin (150%); 2,4-D (100%) + Pendimethalin (150%); 2,4-D (150%) + Pendimethalin (100%); 2,4-D (150%) + Pendimethalin (150%)] applied 15 days after sowing. The following variables were analyzed: plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, weed control, phytotoxicity and productivity. Data were subjected to analysis of variance using Sisvar software. For qualitative data, the Scott-Knott test at 5% probability was used and for quantitative data, polynomial regression. The use of herbicides alone or in association, influenced the productive variables of the sorghum crop. The herbicides 2,4-D (100%) and Pendimethalin (100%) showed potential for use in sorghum.
